Naturally Splendid (TSXV:NSP) announced that Board of Director member Mr. Russ Crawford has been re-elected for a third term as President of The Canadian Hemp Trade Alliance (CHTA). The CHTA is Canada’s national organization promoting the Canadian hemp industry and hemp products globally. Established in 2003, the Alliance represents those involved in Canada’s hemp industry collaborating with government, researchers and members to achieve industry goals related to market development, education and research.
Naturally Splendid CEO, Craig Goodwin, stated:
I would like to congratulate Russ on his appointment as President of the CHTA. Russ has had a distinguished career in agriculture for over 40 years having worked for companies such as Cargill and Alberta Wheat Pool. In addition to his role as President of the CHTA, Russ heads a consulting service that specializes in commodity risk management and advisory services in the agricultural sector. The expertise gained in his career has been of great value to the CHTA and the continued growth in the hemp industry in Canada. We are most fortunate to have expertise of this level imbedded on our Board at Naturally Splendid.
Naturally Splendid Director, Russ Crawford, stated:
The role of President of the CHTA is one I take very seriously. Since my appointment as President, the industry has grown dramatically both in terms of size and diversity. Over the past two years the hemp industry has seen record production and exports along with large financial investment in the handling and processing sector. Approved Health Canada production permits have increased from 8,000 acres in 2008 to a high of 108,000 in 2014. During the same timeframe the value of hemp exports has increased from $4.5 million to a projected $111 million in 2015. Hemp is on the precipice of a break-out in terms of expansion and our industry association is well positioned to represent its members to achieve even greater production and export goals.
The 13th annual CHTA national conference is taking place in Calgary this year November 17-19. The conference is sold out, recording a record turn-out with representation from as many as ten different countries. I am confident that the conference is indicative of the continued growth of industrial hemp in Canada, North America and, in fact globally.
